Campout
Brett loves to go camping and contrary to what my family thinks, I enjoy it as well if the conditions are right. That means no heat, no mosquitoes, no rain in the forecast, and a bathroom within walking distance. Unfortunately for Brett, "having a newborn" has also been added to the list of unfavorable conditions. So, in an attempt to not let this perfect camping weather go to waste, we set up camp in our backyard.
We had a fire, made s'mores, played on the swing set, made shadow puppets in the tent with the flashlights, and read books.
I headed inside to sleep while Brett and Audrey finished their campout. I was shocked when I woke up at 8 am and they were still outside. I should have sent Emily out there to see if she would sleep longer than an hour at a time (baby girl is either sick, teething, or has colic- I can't figure out which one or if it's all of them. All I know is she is not sleeping and Brett and I are starting to look and feel like zombies). We finished the campout with a huge breakfast and a promise to Audrey that she could campout again soon.

I have the same camping conditions and yet my husband loves camping!!! I told him roughing it for me is a motel 6 with no cable....now that is roughing it!!! Looks like you all had fun though.
Fun! I agree with you, the conditions have to be right. It's too bad it rained you guys out last year. I should convince Scott to camp on the lawn :)
I can camp for one night. We have even gone where there are no restrooms, but I don't prefer that scenario. I'd definitely rather camp out than sleep at a motel 6 though. I hope you figure out the problem with Emily's sleep. I keep thinking that I'll know all the answers with the 2nd child and it'll be way easier, but I guess you still don't know what's going on in a little baby's body when they can't talk to you.
